The ‘Rang Barse’ and ‘Balam Pichkari’ season is right here guys and we cannot keep calm. No matter how much we hate the after holi bath procedure but we absolutely love playing Holi. Be it with the dry colors or with those pakka rang, we enjoy this festival of colors to the core. We cannot also ignore the effects of the color on our skin and hair though. There are tonnes of articles talking about how to stay protected on Holi which we all will do. But, let me take to the reality zone. You would get the Holi on your skin and hair and hence you need to know how to remove them. So, here let us talk about how to deal with the Holi stains.

SKIN

1. NO HOT WATER

It is extremely wrong to take bath with hot water after playing Holi. Hot water can cause irritation on your skin and scalp because of those colors. So, switch to cold water or even lukewarm water would do. But not hot water at any cost.

2. SCRUB GENTLY WITH BESAN

Being harsh on the skin and rubbing it with face wash or soap will only make your skin harsh and increase the alkaline level of your skin. Use a paste of besan, lemon, and curd and apply on your skin completely after playing Holi. Keep it for few minutes and scrub it off gently. The stains would be easily removed by this method without being rough on your skin.

 3. HONEY AND ROSEWATER THERAPY

Patches of colors on the skin is a common thing everyone faces. To get rid of those ugly patches you can make a smooth paste of honey and rose water and apply on your skin. Keep it for half an hour and wash it with cold water. This would reduce those stains and make your skin brighter. People having oily skin may not be comfortable with this therapy though.

4. MULTANI MITTI FOR THE OILY SKIN

If you have oily skin then you can try Multani mitti for removing stains from your skin. Multani mitti would do the same effect as honey does for the dry skin. It would also be helpful in removing the excess oil from your skin.

5. APPLY VASELINE EVEN AFTER

I know you must have applied Vaseline and oil on your hair and skin before playing Holi which is great. But you must apply it after playing Holi too and leave it for few minutes on your skin and gently rub it off with cotton. This would remove the excess colors and Holi stains easily.

HAIR

1. HAIR PACKS TO SOFTEN THEM

Holi colors on the hair are more harmful than on the skin. It makes the hair dry leading to severe hair fall. So, instead of washing it with shampoo harshly, you can use some homemade hair packs like methi powder and curd and apply on your hair for some time. This would soften your hair and also make it easy to remove the colors.

2. HERBAL SHAMPOO ONLY

Even if you don’t use herbal shampoo on regular basis, we suggest you switch to herbal shampoo for this day. Herbal shampoo would not be harsh on your scalp and hair strands. Also, instead of directly doing shampoo, you must wash the colors with cold water before. After this, use shampoo to wash colors.

3. TRY THE DEEP CONDITIONING HAIR MASK

The effect of colors remains on the hair for a longer time, even after weeks from Holi. So, we suggest you indulge in deep conditioning hair mask for a month either at home or at a salon whichever suits you.
