The 2018 award season red carpets have looked a bit different than in years past, thanks to stars wearing all-black looks and carrying white roses to support Time’s Up. But for the last show of the season, the Oscars 2018, stars decided to go all-out with their style, making a powerful statement that they are forces to be reckoned with, no matter what they’re wearing.
Stylist Elizabeth Stewart said that the Oscars red carpet was going to be a “celebration of the year’s best fashion along with the best movies,” and the results did not disappoint. There were standout sparkly looks, sweeping trains and gowns with touching backstories. But out of all the showstopping looks, there were a few that we can’t stop talking about.
Here are some of the best looks from this years Academy Awards
1. Lupita Nyong’o in Versace
This Wakandan Queen ruled the red carpet with her sashed gold-and-black Atelier Versace gown which was regal, striking and spectacular. She accentuated it with flawless, thoughtful makeup and hair.
2. Margot Robbie in Chanel
The Best Actress nominee’s romantic white Chanel Haute Couture gown was the one to look out for. The beaded straps draped off her shoulders gave a unique touch to the simple column, and her clear hard plastic Chanel clutch added a modern element to the outfit. To top it all off, Margot’s freshly chopped bob styled in effortless, soft waves gave us some serious spring hair inspiration.
3. Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé
Nicole stunned the red carpet with this electric blue Armani Privé gown. The vivid blue hue is stunning and the fit of this sculptural dress is impeccable. From the sweetheart neckline and oversize bow to the thigh-high center slit, everything in this dress is perfection.
4. Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Last years Academy Award Winner, Emma Stone, was a fresh breath of air on the red carpet. She wore a pant-suit to the Oscars 2018 which was a different take than the usual. She decided to go shirtless and paired a pink satin bow with the red blazer-black pants outfit. Further more, she kept the look simple and went clutch-less.
5. Zendaya in Giambattista Valli
It’s unusual to see a brown formal gown — especially at the Oscars, where fewer women take that kind of a risk. This one is so slouchy, yet so glam. Zendaya is only 21, but she could teach women three times her age a lesson in relaxed elegance. She wore a dark chocolate chiffon gown of Giambattista Valli Couture. It also featured an asymmetrical neckline that bared the young star’s shoulders and had one long voluminous sleeve. Zendaya wore her hair in a high top knot and accessorized with diamond earrings and a statement diamond bracelet
